Shannon Harwood is employed at the Tasmanian Centre for Mental Health Innovation, working on the No Body Left Behind, project which focuses on fostering positive physical health outcomes for those living with severe mental illness, as the Tasmanian Project Coordinator, and as a Lived Experience team member.
She has a background in study/reading in Lived Experience philosophy, advocacy, and workforce development. Recently she has completed two-and-a-half years as a lived experience practitioner in Public Mental Health Services, and works privately as a Recovery coach. Her interests encompass lifestyle mental health care, hyperbolic tapering principles, and the emerging field of Metabolic Psychiatry. She is passionate about the importance of metabolic health for individuals facing mental health challenges, and for promoting broader population health outcomes.
Privately Shannon describes herself as a not-very prolific poet, who loves nothing more than public speaking and public performance. And who uses the vehicle of poetry, creating emotional connection with an audience, to forge the difficult connections necessary for strong LE advocacy.
