Title: Lifestyle Medicine in Mental and Physical Health

Abstract

In the past 10 years, the field of Lifestyle Psychiatry has been blossoming highlighted by the 2021 Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists mood disorder guidelines now recommending lifestyle measures as “non-negotiable and foundational”. In this talk, we explore the role of the lifestyle medicine domains in mental and physical health such as food, movement, sleep, stress, smoking, social connection and connection with the natural world with a review of the evidence and neuro-biological basis.
